Amazon marketplace in Sweden

Amazon Sweden could be the next Amazon Marketplace launched, bringing the global total to 18 Amazon marketplaces.Business Insider points to Amazon’s brand register and notes that Sweden has been added as a national site where brands can protect their IP and add information about their products. Access to the brand registry is a pretty good indicator that a full country site will be available soon.

Amazon has already w launched in the Netherlands and transferred the Souq to the Amazon platform in Saudi Arabia this year.

Amazon Sweden will be a challenge for Amazon if it appears in this country. It is likely that they would like to include the country in FBA programs such as the pan-European FBA and EFN. Sweden is also using their own currency – the Swedish krona, because the country, like the United Kingdom, has decided not to adopt the euro.

One might think Amazon Sweden would open up all of Scandinavia. Sweden is in the EU, they are sandwiched between Finland (also in the EU) and Norway (outside the EU) and Denmark (in the EU) to the south.

Merchants who choose to sell through Amazon Sweden, when (and if) it goes live, will have to adjust to the new currency and translate their product information into Swedish. If you use currency transfer and / or translation services, it is worth asking them if they support Swedish krona and Swedish language.
